Saint Andrew's Lutheran Church

Health and Wellness Team

St. Andrew's health and wellness team has a multiple agenda which encompasses several areas of health education. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 5:15pm.

•  A blood pressure clinic is held in the church office the first Sunday of every month except July. Blood pressure readings can be monitored and recorded monthly and basic blood pressure information obtained from nurses on that day.

•  A bereavement program is available to those who have lost someone in their life and wish for help understanding and managing that first year of grief.

•  The health and wellness team sponsors health scholarships each May. Congregational members that are high school graduates and have been accepted into or are in an ongoing health program may apply. These scholarships are made available through donations and fund raisers. 2012 applications will be available on line or in the church office in late winter/early spring.

•  Healing prayers are another facet offered every third Sunday during church services. Healing prayers are individual prayers given to anyone wanting a prayer for themselves or for someone else. They are available during or can be done privately following the service.

•  Care notes for adults and children are available on a variety of topics and are free for the taking. This is just another service of the team.

•  The health team also may visit shut-ins and possibly arrange meals if needed.

The health and wellness team always welcomes new members. Diane Erickson, parish nurse, may be contacted for further information.
